Z Armenii do Leszna

Hear Sara's story

I stayed in Poland for one year, and it was a really valuable experience for me. During my time here, I have been actively involved in different roles, including mentoring short-term volunteers from various countries, coordinating English Speaking Clubs, and teaching English in local schools through interactive games and activities. I also support the foundation as a graphic designer, event organizer, and social media manager, creating content and helping with community engagement. Additionally, I take part in camps where I present my country and organize educational games for children. My favorite activities were organizing events and working with people. A typical day included planning, teamwork, and helping with different tasks.

I learned how to be more independent, work with people from different cultures, and adapt to new situations. I’m taking back more confidence, open-mindedness, and a better understanding of teamwork. Through this experience, I have improved my communication and leadership skills, especially while working with people from different cultural backgrounds. I have gained valuable experience working with children, learned how to lead activities and manage groups, and developed both teamwork and independent working skills.

I have also started learning Polish, improved my ability to use social media professionally, and discovered effective ways to teach and support others in learning English. This experience has helped me grow both personally and professionally. At the beginning, language and cultural differences were challenging, but I got used to them over time.

Volunteering changed me—I’m more patient and willing to try new things now. I would recommend EKS volunteering to anyone who wants to grow, travel, and meet new people. What I’ll remember most are the people and the experience itself.
