"Lent is the period of prayer, fasting and charity; christian people respect the ecclesiastical fasting expecially on Friday, when they don’t eat meat (in Italy is called: “mangiare di magro”). The messes are celebrated with less solemnity: are not sung the Gloria and the Alleluja and the main color is purple for the liturgical vestments.

The Sunday before Easter is called Domenica delle Palme (it remember the entrance of Jesus in Jerusalem) and the pastor usually blesses the olive branches, recently cut, and the faithful bring them to the curch with a short procession; these blesses branches are conserved like peace simbols[...]"
